The 2019 Emirates Australian Open final leaderboard is headed by winner Matt Jones, who won his second national championship with a one-shot victory over Louis Oosthuizen at The Australian Golf Club near Sydney, Australia.

Jones began the day with a three-shot lead, and he came to the final hole coming off a birdie on the 17th to restore a three-shot lead. However, Oosthuizen made an eagle 3 on the closing par 5, leaving Jones to make a par to capture the win.

Jones struggled on the hole, but he managed to get up and down for par from the front of the green, making a 5-foot putt to secure the dramatic win.

"To be on the trophy with Jack and Gary and Greg and Adam (Scott), Rory (McIlroy), Jordan (Spieth); to be able to do it twice is very special and something that I’ll be able to look back on later in life and be very proud of," Jones said.

Jones won the AUD$275,000 winner's share of the AUD$1,500,000 purse.

Emirates Australian Open recap notes

Matt Jones becomes the 19th player in the 104-year history of the Australian Open to win multiple titles.

Matt Jones, Aaron Pike and amateur Takumi Kanaya earned spots into the 2020 Open Championship at Royal St. George's by being the top three finishers in the top 10 of the tournament who had not already qualified for the year's final major championship.

Smylie Kaumfan, who made the cut on the number, finished T-27 in what could be the beginning of a climb back toward his former status.

Approximately half of the International Presidents Cup team competed in this event as preparation for next week at Royal Melbourne.
