The 2019 Alfred Dunhill Championship final leaderboard is headed by winner Pablo Larrazabal, who battled illness and blisters on his feet to secure a European Tour win at Leopard Creek Golf Club in South Africa.

Larrazabal finished up with a 3-over 75, salvaging a one-shot win over Joel Sjoholm on 8-under 280. The Spaniard scored worse in each round -- 66, 69, 70, 75 -- but still managed the victory.

Charl Schwartzel, Branden Grace and Wil Besseling finished tied for third place on 6-under total.

Larrazabal won the €237,750 winner's share of the €1,500,000 purse.

Alfred Dunhill Championship recap notes

This was Larrazabal's first win in more than 1,600 days, giving him his first European Tour title in nearly five years.

This was the first event of the 2019-2020 European Tour schedule. The Race to Dubai began this week, with the winner getting 460 points. Points are allocated to a field based on their purse, major status, WGCs and the final three events of the season.

Joel Sjoholm was the first alternate into the tournament this week, making the trip in the unlikely event of a withdrawal. He has secured dramatically improved status with his second-place finish.

One amateur, Jayden Trey Schaper, made the cut and finished T-42. He is not paid, as he's an amateur.

Only 13 players finished under par for the tournament, which is not typical of professional golf tournaments.
