The 2018 US Open Saturday pin sheet has been released for the thirdd round during which will be played under better weather conditions than Day 1, including sunshine, 71-degree temperatures and modest wind. That weather will impact how Shinnecock Hills plays and how the weekend field will approach the course. So, too, will the hole locations (pin placements) as selected by the USGA US Open Competition Committee.
2018 US Open Saturday third round pin placements
Some things to note:
- The hole location on the third is probably the most difficult on the green. Don't entertain the bunker.
- The sixth features a tucked pin near the greenside bunker, forcing a player to come in with a draw for a birdie.
- The pin on No. 9 is a good one, requiring a player to sling the ball in from right to left.
- The pin on No. 17 will require a lot of moxie to get there considering the big penalty for missing left or short.
Saturday scoring is expected to be near Friday's scoring, but with more difficult pin positions.
