Tiger Woods' 2018 schedule continues to take shape as Woods has committed to play in the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, N.C. and The Players Championship the next week at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Woods has committed before the Friday, April 27 deadline for the Wells Fargo, continuing a string of giving tournaments a heads-up of his plans to play ahead of the bare minimum time -- a change of pace for Woods from when his schedule was more certain and he was the clear No. 1 player in the world.
The 2018 Wells Fargo Championship is played at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, which was also home to the 2017 PGA Championship. Last year's Wells Fargo Championship was played in Wilmington, N.C., where Brian Harman held off the likes of Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm for the win.
Woods has won The Players twice, in 2001 and 2013, part of a rare company of multi-time champions at the home of the PGA Tour. Woods hasn't played in the event either of the last two years with back injury. This is the last year The Players will be contested in May, as it's moving back to March to accommodate the PGA Championship moving to May.
Woods' commitment to the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship and The Players further adds to his schedule after Woods formally entered the 2018 US Open at Shinnecock Hills on Long Island in June. This US Open marks the end of his 10-year exemption into the year's second, and soon-to-be third, major of year for winning the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines, which was to date the last of his 14 major championship wins.
