Bubba Watson has a graphic "G4" printed on his golf shoes he's wearing this week. No, he's not paying tribute to some prior Ping model driver. That's a bit of a pun on the brand of golf shoes he's been wearing.

Watson wears golf shoes from a company called G/Fore, which was recently acquired by Peter Millar. It is the brainchild of Mossimo Giannulli, the founder of the Mossimo surf-and-streetwear brand which hit its peak in the 1990s.

Giannulli, a huge golf fan, chose to bring bold, unapologetic, sometimes brash design notes to the game with the G/Fore brand in 2011. It started with colorful gloves and grew into sassy hats, new-age patterns (for golf) and eye-catching shoes.

The G4 on Watson's shoes, then, are a play on "fore" and "four."

In the past, Watson has worn several shoes from the brand, including high-tops when those were the rage a few years ago.
