2017 British Open Championship cut line: Who made the weekend at Royal Birkdale?

With two rounds in at the 2017 British Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, the 36-hole cut has been made to the top 70 players and ties, in accordance with the British Open Championship cut rule.

Ultimately, the cut line was determined as 5-over 145 on the par-70 course. Jordan Spieth leads at 6-under 134, while Matt Kuchar, in search of his first major title, is alone in second place at 4 under par.

All told, 77 players finished at 5 over or better, meaning there will be 39 tee times on Saturday and Sunday, going in twosomes from the first tee. This means the every player in the field is currently within a decent reach of winning the championship, as no player is more than 11 shots back of the lead.

The 2017 British Open Championship cut line falls in line with normal trends in this major.

Notable names to miss the cut

Among the top names to miss the cut are Justin Thomas, Phil Mickelson, Padraig Harrington, Si Woo Kim, Patrick Reed, Bill Haas and Shane Lowry.
