SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- You could be the designer of Kevin Streelman's next driver, and he's rooting for you.
The two-time PGA Tour winner will be a judge for Wilson Golf's new reality show, "Driver vs. Driver," which will air on Golf Channel in Fall 2016. The company has put out an all points bulletin for driver concepts and designs from people from all walks of life, hoping to find something a little different. After the submission deadline on Aug. 31, the company will narrow down the submissions to the best eight ideas, which will make the show and be put through the full design process -- including all kinds of testing.
"We're trying to think outside the box a little," Streelman said Wednesday at Whistling Straits, site of the PGA Championship.
The concepts don't have to be fully baked. They don't even have to be professionally drawn. But Wilson is all ears. And the winning design earns a $500,000 prize, as well a full production order for 2017.
Streelman said this effort, which is as much a clever marketing campaign as it is a unique contest, fits with how he feels Wilson treats him as a staffer.
"That's been the awesome thing with Wilson," he said. "It feels more like a family."
And who couldn't use some new in-laws, married by your love of golf?
