Professional golfer Zac Blair has had many memorable experiences during his life in the game — first as a junior golfer, then as a member of the team at Brigham Young University and now as a PGA Tour competitor. In this “Emergency 9” episode of the “Talking GolfGetaways” podcast (presented by 2UNDR apparel — use promo code GNN20 for 20% off your next purchase), Zac recounts some of his favorites while also sharing some lesser-known Blair info with hosts Mitch Laurance and Darin Bunch.

You’ll find out why he ranks Pine Valley as his favorite course, and why the Myopia Hunt Club in Massachusetts and Crystal Downs in Michigan are at the top of his admittedly large Bucket List (with an honorable mention to make a return visit to Mid-Pines in Pinehurst, North Carolina).

Zac’s “Favorite Place to Stay” offers golf travelers a great insider tip if they’re planning a visit to the Alister MacKenzie nine-hole gem that is Northwood Golf Club in Northern California, citing the welcoming and cozy River View Garden Resort in Monte Rio, set on the Russian River among towering redwoods, as a must-stay.

Also, thanks to Zac, your next trip to Houston might include his choice for “The Best Thing He’s Ever Eaten on a Trip — Gumbo Jeaux’s in Houston, near the George W Bush Airport. Plus, you’ll hear why the nightlife of a destination is Zac’s “Most Important Thing on a Golf Trip,” and why Pinehurst is a perfect example with all the village and areas outside the resort have to offer.

As developer of The Buck Club project in Utah, it’s understandable why Zac’s favorite piece of apparel would be a Buck Club hat. And his favorite piece of equipment? His trusty 3-iron, which he says is his club of choice, “if I could hit any iron.” And, as one of the most casual, fun guys you’ll find when he’s away from Tour competition, Zac talks about his willingness to move up sets of tees when playing with friends.

It’s a no-brainer for Zac when he’s asked about the “Most Interesting Person He’s Ever Golfed With” — his rookie round with Tiger Woods on a Saturday at The Memorial gave him the chance to play with his biggest idol, and forged a memorable experience he calls “the coolest thing ever” while detailing how they talked the entire round and why he’s an ever bigger Tiger fan after that day.

Zac also explains why the low-key vibe and seaside beauty of Kahuku Golf Club on the North Shore of Oahu is the “Course He Wishes Everyone Knew About.” And he concludes this Emergency 9 episode with another story from The Memorial, sharing the hilarious and mind-blowing experience of having the great Jack Nicklaus walk in on him during a hot tub soak after a workout at the club.

It’s another very fun, interesting conversation with Zac Blair, one of the PGA Tour’s most unique dudes. We hope you enjoy the connection.
