It’s time for another popular (and at time hilarious) Emergency 9 episode of the “Talking GolfGetaways” podcast with hosts Mitch Laurance and Darin Bunch — and this time we battle wits with John Patrick, creator of the award-winning “Augusta Golf Show.”

LISTEN to the show on audioBoom!

You’ll find out why John picks Pebble Beach and Cypress Point as his “Favorite Course or Destination, Anywhere in the World,” and why he’ll have to take multiple trips to satisy his deep “Bucket List” — including trips to St. Andrews, Bandon Dunes Resort, Cabot Links, Pine Valley and Merion.

John also describes the beauty and service at his “Favorite Place You’ve Ever Stayed” — the Fairmont Whistler in Canada — and he’ll make you mouth water as he details why the soufflé at the 1895 Grill at the Holly Inn in Pinehurst still gets his vote for the “Best Thing You’ve Ever Eaten on a Trip.”

And his answer to “What’s Most Important To You on a Trip Besides Golf” is a twist on a longstanding “GolfGetaways” team as he shares how important it is to be in the center of the community you’re visiting.

As far as handicap and preferred tee box, John is a strong 8 and likes to play between 6,000-6,500 yards (although he is already starting to “embrace his future” by moving up a tee box) and counts his good friend Michael Ash, a “consummate Southern gentleman and the finest person I know” as favorite golfing partner.

Finally, John talks about the courses he wishes everyone know about — two Alister MacKenzie designs, one near Augusta (Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, South Carolina) with the other being Yoeman’s Hall — with an emphasis on his love for classic golf architecture.

It’s yet another lively conversation with one of our great friends and a true contributor to the game of golf. We hope you enjoy the connection with John Patrick.
