PREVIEW: TaylorMade Milled Grind wedges

TaylorMade has quietly seeded some new wedges for this week's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas, and the new line represents several upgrades over their previous offerings.

The new line is called Milled Grind, and the wedges' biggest change is that the three sole grinds are not finished by hand but rather through a new CNC milling technique that improves the consistency and accuracy of each wedge. As you'd expect, the three grinds correspond with swing types and turf conditions.

Equally fascinating is the Milled Grind wedges feature new ZTP-17 grooves, which have steeper side walls and a sharper edge radius. The more precise the grooves, the more spin they'll impart on the golf ball at impact, leading to the ball checking faster on the greens.

When the Milled Grind wedges debut sometime in first quarter of 2017, they'll go for $149 each.
