Most putters are offered in 33-, 34- and 35-inch lengths, or some combination thereof. However, beyond that, the shaft length is often an afterthought in the construction process other than in counter-balanced putters, which are typically longer to accommodate the players that tend to like them and the added weight on the putter head and in the counter-balancing grip.
Titleist's Scotty Cameron is trying to change that with a new line of 33-inch-only putters that are weighted and crafted specifically for players who prefer the shorter length.
The new Scotty Cameron Cameron and Crown line matches four distinct head shapes — Select Newport 2, Select Newport M2 Mallet, GOLO 5 and Futura X5R — in 360-gram heads, built specifically for the 33-inch length. Two 20-gram sole weights and a smaller white Matador grip are also part of the construction to complete the fit.
The Cameron and Crown heads are made using 303 stainless steel and 6061 aircraft grade aluminum for face inlays, face-sole components and flange construction, and have a raw stainless steel finish and Silver Mist treatment aimed at reducing glare. Three milled dots and a white, gold, silver and black color scheme complete the design.
The Scotty Cameron Cameron and Crown line is available Sept. 23 for $380 per putter.
