Paul Broadhurst won his first senior major championship, taking the 2016 Senior British Open Championship at Carnoustie. He beat Scott McCarron by two shots at 11-under 277 and 54-hole leader Miguel Angel Jimenez and Magnus Persson Atlevi by three shots.

Broadhurst won the $276,634 winner's share of the approximate $1.35 million prize pool.
