The Irish women's Olympic golf team has an additional Rio-bound player. Northern Ireland's Stephanie Meadow now joins Irishwoman Leona Maguire on the Irish team in the 60-play women's Olympic tournament.

Meadow earned a place in the field when the two players from the Netherlands, Christel Boeljon and Anne van Dam did not reach the Dutch Olympic Committee’s minimum requirement of finishing both inside the top 60 Olympic ranking and hold a top-100 spot in the Rolex Rankings at the July 11 cutoff. That means neither will be sent to the Olympics in Brazil.

Dottie Ardina of The Philippines would be next in line after Meadow to take van Dam's place.

Meadow tweeted about the news.
