With the cancellation of The Greenbrier Classic in West Virginia, the R&A had to make a decision with what to do with the Open Championship spot it had intended to dole out at the Old White TPC.

On Sunday, the R&A announced that the one spot on offer will instead be awarded this week at the Barracuda Championship, the PGA Tour's opposite field event played in Reno, Nev., while top-ranked players compete in the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio.

The top finisher in Barracuda Championship's top five that isn't already exempt into the Open Championship at Royal Troon will earn a spot in the third major of the year. The stipulation is the same as what would have been on offer at Greenbrier.

The Open Championship runs July 14-17.
