If you're a fantasy gamer and a big-time golf fan, then you might have dreamed of the day when you could compete in a European Tour daily fantasy golf contest. Now, your dream has become a reality.
The European Tour announced this week that is has partnered with PlayOn to offer official tour daily fantasy games. Starting with the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, players can enter contests by picking seven players in a salary-cap contest to create a roster. Points are then awarded based on their hole-by-hole performance and finish in the tournament. The team with the most points wins.
PlayOn's salary cap and points systems are inflated in value compared to DraftKings. For example, the roster budget is 100 million Euro and players earn 25 points for a birdie, losing 10 for a bogey. However, the concept is basically the same.
The British company is offering relatively small games to start, with entry fees -- based in British pounds -- ranging from free to 110 GBP, or $161. However, Americans are currently only able to play in free contests.
