After several close calls, Jarrod Lyle has gotten through PGA Tour Monday qualifying in 2016. Lyle was a co-medalist along with Thomas Aiken and Sung Kang in the 2016 Northern Trust Open Monday qualifier, which wrapped up on Tuesday morning.
All three players shot 6-under 65 on the Zaharias Course at Industry Hills Golf Club.
That left one spot for five players, all of which shot 5-under 66: Rhein Gibson, John Crin, Andrew Putnam, Xander Schauffele and Nathan Lashley.
The Aussie Rhein Gibson survived the playoff to earn the final spot in the field from the Monday qualifier.
Aiken and Kang already have full PGA Tour status this season. Aiken, the South African, has made four cuts in seven starts this season, including a T-60 finish last week at Pebble Beach. Kang has performed similarly, posting a season-best T-17 at Pebble.
Lyle continues to work through a major medical exemption in an attempt to earn back his full PGA Tour status after successfully beating acute myeloid lukemia for a second time. Lyle has five events remaining to earn $209,111 to get his full PGA Tour card back.
