Particularly for older folks, Facebook has a way of reintroducing once-forgotten people into your life. For a pair of Vietnam veterans, it was a picture of Pinehurst Resort that brought them back together after 40 years apart.
The resort shared a photo on Sept. 18, on which Dave Langley commented, excited for his vacation there in eight days. Terry Heyl responded not but 20 minutes later to Dave: “Were you in Da Nang?”
And like that, a connection from four decades ago and a world away was remade. The two were Air Force roommates during Vietnam. They hadn't seen each other since 1972.
The pair are now back in touch regularly and are going to get together in December at Pinehurst for a round of golf. The two are regulars at the North Carolina resort. Heyl’s son-in-law, John Jefferys, is the new superintendent of Pinehurst No. 2. Langley owns a house at Pinehurst No. 6.
