After the final putt dropped at the 2014 PGA Championship on Sunday, nine Americans automatically qualified for the Scotland-bound squad that looks to retake the Ryder Cup and avenge consecutive losses of a point or less.
Here's a look at the final Ryder Cup points standings:
1. Bubba Watson - 6,930.04
2. Rickie Fowler - 6,733.25
3. Jim Furyk - 6,707.69
4. Jimmy Walker - 6,111.41
5. Phil Mickelson - 5,510.34
6. Matt Kuchar - 5,114.67
7. Jordan Spieth - 4,835.83
8. Patrick Reed - 3,650.23
9. Zach Johnson - 3,568.69
Phil Mickelson played his way into an automatic spot with his runner-up finish at Valhalla G.C., going from 10th in the standings to fifth.
Despite a poor finish, Zach Johnson managed to hang on to an automatic-qualifying spot by some nine points over Jason Dufner, the defending PGA champion who was forced to withdraw with a bad neck. Dufner said he would not play competitive golf again until his neck is healthy.
Captain Tom Watson then made his three wild-card picks on Tuesday in New York after the Deutsche Bank Championship, adding the following players to the team:
10. Keegan Bradley
11. Hunter Mahan
12. Webb Simpson
