Viktor Hovland is at Kapalua for the Sentry Tournament of Champions; his golf clubs are in Seattle

Viktor Hovland's golf clubs are missing (at least, they were until Tuesday night). Well, at least he doesn't have them.

It's the Tuesday before the 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions, and Hovland is at Kapalua Resort in Hawaii. However, Hovland's golf clubs are in Seattle and in the care of Delta Airlines.

Hovland took to his Instagram story on Monday to share that he doesn't have his golf clubs, which were apparently not on the plane with him to Hawaii when he arrived well ahead of the tournament last Wednesday. Per Hovland, they're in the Pacific Northwest, where Delta has a hub.

There's been no update from Hovland's social channels, so it's unclear if his golf clubs have made it quite yet.

Were this event being played on the mainland United States, there would be a Ping tour truck, and they would be able to build him a quick backup set. Or a backup set could be easily shipped from his home to tournament site. However, for the Hawaii events, there aren't typical tour truck setups, leaving players to somewhat fend on their own.

At this point, Ping might be able to send an emergency set to Hovland via overnight air shipping. The absolute worst-case scenario would mean Hovland playing with a set of resort rentals, but it would never come to that.

There is plenty of incentive for Hovland to play this week, though, even without his golf clubs. After Cameron Champ withdrew from the event on Tuesday, the last-place finisher in the 38-player, winners-only field this week gets $105,000.
