Cameron Champ withdraws from 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions with COVID-19

Cameron Champ has withdrawn from the 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions on the PGA Tour after testing positive for COVID-19.

Champ, who qualified for the PGA Tour's winners-only event at Kapalua Resort on Maui in Hawaii by winning the 2021 3M Open in Minnesota, tested positive in his home state of Texas before making the trip.

“Cameron is naturally quite disappointed not to be able to return to action in Maui," read a statement from Champ's representation. "Thankfully, however, he feels good and we were able to confirm this breakthrough case whilst he was still at home in Houston.”

Champ is vaccinated; he will not be replaced in the field, as the tournament is reserved for PGA Tour winners of official events since and including the last Sentry Tournament of Champions.

In both of his two previous tournament appearances on Kapalua's Plantation Course, Champ finished in 15th place.

The field is now 38 players. Rory McIlroy is the only qualifying winner who did not enter the tournament before the entry deadline.
