If you’re new to head-to-head matchups betting in golf, sportsbooks give bettors a variety of one-on-one or group matchups, pitting players against each other in a single round or for an entire tournament. Of course, before the tournament, we’re looking at either first-round wagers or whole-tournament wagers. If only one of the players makes the cut (there’s no cut this week), then that player is the winner by default, assuming they finish.

This week, we have the Safeway Open, with Silverado Resort kicking off the season and serving as the warm-up for next week’s US Open. We don’t have a deep field here, but we have some interesting names and plays to make.
We didn’t offer matchups last week because I wasn’t a fan of the starting strokes playing a factor in the matchups. This week, we don’t have that problem.
Mark Hubbard (-105) over Talor Gooch: Gooch has been a cut-maker all seasong long, but Hubbs likes the West Coast and has been playing great.
Joel Dahmen (+110) over Sergio Garcia: Dahmen has been rock solid all year long. Garcia has showed flashes of brilliance, but this is a great price.
Harold Varner III (-120) over Chez Reavie: HV3 is one of my money picks this week, and Chez has struggled of late.[/s2If]
