The finish someone plays on their wedge really does say something about the golfer playing them. The mainstream golfer prefers a chrome-style finish. Some love a raw look that rusts up over time. Others love murdered-out black wedges. And some of us love a blue look.
That's why Bob Vokey is introducing a Slate Blue finish on the Vokey SM7 wedges.
Typically, these kinds of finishes are applied with a PVD finish, which looks great at first but wears down quickly. Vokey, through Titleist, says this finish is applied with a different material than PVD and uses a more time-intensive application process to make it more durable.
The Slate Blue finishe will be available in all 23 combos in the SM7 family, adding to the Tour Chrome, Brushed Steel and Jet Black finishes.
The Vokey SM7 Slate Blue finish wedges will be available Jan. 31 for $200 each, with customization available on Vokey.com. Stock options include the Nippon Modus3 125 shaft and BV Wings New Decade multi-compound black grip, but other options are available without upcharge.
