Golf is frustrating, even for the greatest players of all-time who patrol the fairways of PGA Tour Champions.
An apparent case-in-point is John Daly, who is working his way through his first season on the 50-plus circuit. While the two-time major winner has enjoyed some good finishes so far this year, he didn't have one at the 3M Championship. Daly shot even-par 72 in the first two rounds of the 54-hole event in Minnesota, and things didn't get better in Sunday's final round at TPC Twin Cities. Daly shot a 3-over 75 that left him tied for 71st among the 79 players who finished the event and apparently left him with two fewer clubs.
Can't confirm, but hearing John Daly finished today 2 clubs short. Busted putter over his knee on one hole, chucked wedge on another

What's unclear is if Daly broke two clubs or just one, as we do have confirmation from a fan in attendance that Daly did bisect his putter with his knee.
No matter whether it was one club or two and on which hole or holes the casualties were caused, Daly still impressively birdied the par-5 finisher without his putter -- and, perhaps, without his next-best option to blade the ball in the hole.
