Donald Trump tweeted kudos to Colin Montgomerie for winning majors he didn’t win

No one ever said that Donald Trump was a golf historian, but the presumptive Republican presidential nominee can get pretty loose with the facts -- particularly on his Twitter account.

On Friday, Trump was looking to express thanks to eight-time European Tour money list winner Colin Montgomerie for visiting the newly renovated Trump Turnberry in Scotland. Montgomerie had brought his father to the resort and check out the Ailsa Course, which will re-open in June.

Unfortunately, Trump got Montgomerie's record wrong in his tweet, which read: "@montgomeriefdn Colin, great to have you at Trump Turnberry. So proud of you and your GREAT playing! You made winning MAJORS look easy!"

And you know the problem with that: Monty never won a major. However, he did win three PGA Tour Champions majors, so that counts for something.
