As TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager continues his courageous, public battle with myeloid leukemia, so many in the sports community are showing support and sharing their favorite stories of the colorful journalist.
One such tribute stories involves Sager and a whole lot of beer on the golf course. Fox Sports Sun's Jason Jackson spoke to the Palm Beach Post (via The Big Lead), sharing the story of a 2013 round in Milwaukee amid a Bucks-Miami Heat playoff series. It was apparently a blustery day, though Sager insisted on wearing shorts...and apparently drinking a cube to himself.
“Anyway, Craig Sager drank 26 Bud Lights in 18 holes and did not miss a putt. He two-putted maybe six greens, and everything else was in. We (Craig's opponents) lost $70 each. It infuriated me. I don’t mind having a beverage after a round, right? But he kept having beers and I kept losing, and I thought, ‘I know this dude. This is a Midwestern man who has utter control of his constitution.’ There was no way."
For some people, they play better when they drink. They think less and play more. But 26 beers?! It's amazing he could even stay upright.
