President Barack Obama was hoping to play some golf over Labor Day weekend in Westchester Co., N.Y. However, the President's request to several clubs, including Winged Foot and Trump National Golf Club - Westchester, was rebuffed.
WNBC-TV reports White House staff reached out to these clubs, among others, for a Saturday tee time, but were told by the clubs that they could not cede the entire facility for at least five hours to the President over a critical weekend for members of these elite clubs. The report claims the President's team reached out to these clubs with less than 48 hours' notice. Officials at those clubs declined to comment.
President Obama was in the area on Aug. 29 for a fundraiser, intending to stay the night in the area to attend the wedding of White House chef Sam Kass and MSNBC host Alex Wagner. Instead, Obama returned to Washington, doubling back for the ceremony on Saturday night.
