adidas Golf’s newest adizero shoe their lightest yet

The adizero line of shoes from adidas Golf has been made even lighter for 2014, bringing the newly introduced footwear in at a paltry -- in a good way -- 10 oz.

The adizero one shoe was introduced Monday, 10 percent lighter than the 2013 Tour model. The challenge for adidas engineers was to continue moving toward a weightless experience wearing the shoes while still offering the kind of traction a golfer needs on any surface.

The adizero one shoe continues to offer a single-piece upper, blending together five different components into one with the aim of giving a snug, sleeve-like feel for the player -- an extension of the foot.

Three cleats have been removed from the '14 model, strategically placed around the 20 percent larger outsole to still offer the same traction an adizero wearer would expect.

The adizero one shoes will be available starting Jan. 23 for an MSRP of $180. That initial January release will offer four color choices, with another three coming in May.
