Zach Johnson tweets about confronting BMW Championship heckler

Zach Johnson took to Twitter on Saturday night to explain his verbal confrontation with a heckler on the 18th hole after the third round of the BWW Championship.

[line-quote color="red"]Just to clarify, what was said on 18 didn't affect me or my game. However, when there's children around, we had to acknowledge and pursue the individual. I forgive him. Unfortunately, with kids around, action was necessary. Saying that, the fans have been awesome all week! -- @ZachJohnsonPGA[/line-quote]

After Johnson missed his first putt on the 18th hole at Conway Farms, a fan shouted, "Zach, you suck!" from the grandstands. Johnson heard the remark as he was walking toward where his ball stopped and shot an incredulous glance back at the fan. He then tapped in his final putt, as did playing partner Nick Watney.

The two and their respective caddies then made their way toward the fan in question, pointing at him and asking security to eject him. They both then verbally confronted the fan, who has not been identified. Television microphones could not pick up what either Johnson or Watney said.

Though the heckler did not impact Johnson's missed birdie putt at the par-5 finisher, he lamented the missed opportunity after the round.

"I wish I could have the one back on the 18th," he said. "I'm sitting there in prime position to make a 4, and come away with a 5.  But that's Conway Farms, and I've got 18 more holes."
