Arsenio Hall’s back! Where was golf when he left off in 1994?

In case you haven't heard, Arsenio Hall is back on TV, starting Monday. No, not ironically.

The 57-year-old can be found throughout the country, syndicated in most major cities. Apparently, he did pretty well in his first night back, especially among the young people.

One can assume Arsenio Hall has updated his show and in the 19 years since he last hosted a late-night talk show. He went off the air in 1994 after a five-year run. So where was golf at the end of 1994, when the fist-pumping stopped?

The 1994 PGA Tour season was arguably Nick Price's best. The Zimbabwean won six times that season, including the final two majors of the year. For his work, Price earned what now seems a paltry $1,499,927. Greg Norman finished second on the money list with $1,330,307 despite just one win on the campaign.

Phil Mickelson won the season-opener that year, taking the Mercedes Championships in California (before they upgraded the tournament with a trip to Kapalua in Hawaii). Mickelson wouldn't win the rest of the season.

And, by the way, Tiger Woods had just won the first of three consecutive U.S. Amateur titles, winning at TPC Sawgrass.

We'll take this short look back into history full circle. Arsenio Hall is back on TV, and Nick Price is the captain of the International Presidents Cup team. Who's likely to last longer in their current role? Our money is on Hall.
