2013-14 PGA Tour schedule

On Monday, the PGA Tour released its 2013-14 schedule -- the first since the Tour announced it would begin a wrap-around schedule that bridges multiple calendar years within the same season.

The 2013-14 PGA Tour schedule kicks off on Oct. 7, 2013, with the playing of the Frys.com Open at CordeValle Golf Club in Silicon Valley in northern California. It's the start of six events to finish off the 2013 portion of the new season, including the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas, followed by a pair of events in Asia that now carry full FedEx Cup points, like all six of the former Fall Series events.

Then the Tour takes a 45-day break before resuming the season at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions at Kapalua, a winners-only event. From there, the PGA Tour schedule looks very familiar compared to the past handful of years, with a West Coast Swing that culminates in the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. The OHL Classic at Mayakoba, however, is no longer the opposite-field event that week, as it has moved into the Starting Six events.

The Florida Swing leads into a Texas two-step before the Masters, with the Shell Houston Open once again being the lead-in to the year's first major after swapping spots with the Valero Texas Open last season.

Following the Masters, it's a lead up to The Players Championship in May before the Tour comes back to Texas for the Byron Nelson Championship and Colonial. Then after the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2, the hits come fast and furious leading into the FedEx Cup Playoffs that open in 2014 with The Barclays at Ridgewood C.C. in New Jersey, go to TPC Boston for the Deutsche Bank Championship ending on Labor Day, then to Denver and Cherry Hills C.C. for the BMW Championship and ending, as custom, in Atlanta with the Tour Championship.
