You know how, sometimes, when you see something so bad, you exclaim, "They should have paid me to see that!"
Well, Charles Barkley did just that at the American Century Championship last weekend.
On the seventh hole at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Lake Tahoe, Nev., Barkley apparently was distributing thousands of dollars in the form of free Benjamins to the gallery. Why? Who knows, but Buzzfeed tracked down a number of tweets from fans who shared visual proof of the Barkley benevolence.
It seems it was a case of right place, right time, as every fan around the green got $100.
Even more bizarre is that Barkley wasn't even playing in the tournament. He withdrew ahead of time, citing an injury sustained while lifting weights. Instead, he morphed from contestant to official tournament ambassador. That's one way to meet the masses.
Maybe it was his way of apologizing to the fans for not treating them to his delightful brand of golf.
Regardless of why, it seems clear that it pays to go to the American Century Championship.
