Saints coach Sean Payton to caddie for Ryan Palmer at Greenbrier

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton had a year off, thanks to an NFL-levied suspension for his role in the "Bountygate" controversy. As he is about to get back into the swing of things with training camp, he planned to spend a week relaxing at The Greenbrier.

Instead, he'll be looping for Ryan Palmer in this week's the Greenbrier Classic. The coach and the pro know each other after meeting in Dallas. After some conversations about their schedules, Payton agreed to caddie for Palmer.

Payton isn't much a golfer, but said he likens the role of a head coach to that of a caddie.

"(There's) a lot of tedious work that goes for the most part unnoticed," Payton said in a news conference. "And it's pretty interesting to be around this venue and just see how these guys get around the course and what's going through their mind."
