POLL: Golf’s equivalent of Serena Williams vs. Andy Murray?

In September, it will have been 40 years since Billy Jean King beat Bobby Riggs  in straight sets in the Astrodome to win the Battle of the Sexes.

This fall in Las Vegas, Serena Williams and Andy Murray could face off in a modern take on the series.

Both Williams and Murray have bandied about the idea over the last few days, all in response to a prodding tweet at Murray suggesting Williams would beat him on a grass court. Whether or not the match actually happens is uncertain, or any changes to the rules for the hypothetical exhibition, but it got us thinking about who would be the best match-up right now in golf's own modern Battle of the Sexes.

The contenders on the men's side are pretty clear: Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy seem like the strongest picks. Phil Mickelson would be a popular choice. From Red Bull's perspective, having Rickie Fowler involved to take on Lexi Thompson would be a great marketing opportunity.

The woman to pick at the moment would be obvious. In Bee Park is winning everything in sight, including the first two majors as part of five LPGA Tour wins this season. World No. 2 Stacy Lewis and Paula Creamer would be the standout American picks. Suzann Pettersen could make it an all-Nike affair if she played against Woods or McIlroy.

But we want you to tell us what match you'd like to see, so vote in our poll:
