Game back on.

The 2013 U.S. Open will resume at 12:10 p.m. ET, the USGA announced moments ago.

Play was halted at 8:36 a.m. ET at Merion Golf Club because of severe thunderstorms in the Ardmore, Pa., area, just about 90 minutes after the start of the tournament.

More than 6.5 inches of rain had already fallen on the club since Tropical Storm Andrea rolled through last Friday. Precipitation totals for this latest deluge of rain aren't yet available.

With a delay of 3 hours, 34 minutes, tee times will be pushed back accordingly. That means Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott will have their starting time bumped from 1:14 p.m. ET to 4:48 p.m. ET -- provided no other delays happen.

Another storm system, potentially bringing derecho-like conditions, is slated to hit the metropolitan area around 1 p.m. ET.
