There's rain delays, and then there's rain delays.

The inaugural Pure Silk Bahamas Classic on the LPGA Tour was reduced to 54 holes because of nearly a foot of rain that fell on the Atlantis Resort, site of the tournament. The event will begin on Friday and conclude on Sunday.

The storm, which dumped the rain in an eight-hour stretch, was something locals had not seen in 20 years, according to the Associated Press.

"They said they had never seen a storm like this, so we're probably in a good spot," said LPGA Tour commissioner Mike Whan.

The rain was so substantial that a pond located between the ninth and 18th holes overflooded in astounding fashion.

Brittany Lincicome, an avid angler in addition to a long-hitting pro, shared a picture of the flooding. She said a 15th club -- her fishing rod -- might be needed.
