The European Tour will boast a pair of new South African events for the 2013 season, as the tour has come to an agreement with the Sunshine Tour to co-sanction two inaugural events.
The Nelson Mandela Championship will be held from Dec. 6-9 and the Tshwane Open will take place from Feb. 28 to March 3, according to Reuters.
The Mandela event, which will boast a purse of at least $1.22 million, will benefit the former South African president's Nelson Mandela Children's Fund.
The Tshwane Open will have a purse of $1.9 million and be played at the Els Club Copperleaf, situated between capitals Johannesburg and Pretoria.
South Africa will boast six events on the European Tour schedule next season, surpassing Spain for most on the docket. The continued Spanish recession and related austerity measures have forced the cancellation of most European Tour event in that country, leaving just a pair.
