Which of the FedEx Cup bubble boys made a move on Day 1 at the Wyndham?

If the Wyndham Championship ended on Thursday night, just a pair of players from outside the current top 125 in FedEx Cup points would secure a spot in the field next week at The Barclays.

David Mathis shot 7-under 63 to trail Carl Pettersson by a shot after Day 1. His hypothetical T-2 finish would propel him 49 places to 87th in FedEx Cup points.

Gary Woodland is the other player that would get into the playoff opener. He shot 4-under 66 to tie his low round of the season and sit at T-8.

A year ago, three players - Ernie Els, William McGirt and Padraig Harrington - played their way into the playoffs at Wyndham. In 2010, Scott Piercy was the lone player to do it. A total of 13 players have played their way in since the inception of the concept in 2007.

No player, however, who has been outside the top 125 heading into the Wyndham has ever made it all the way to The Tour Championship.
