By the numbers, Tiger Woods is in range to win a fourth Open

Tiger Woods has won the Open Championship three times, which serves as a very small statistical sample. However, his opening-round 67 at Royal Lytham and St. Annes on Thursday might tip a fourth Claret Jug for Woods.

In his prior three Open wins - two at St. Andrews, the other at Royal Liverpool - Woods opened with at least 67. He shot 67 to start his 2000 Open win at the Old Course and in '06 at Hoylake. He shot 66 en route to winning in '05 at the Home of Golf.

Then again, Woods began the '10 Open at the Old Course with 67 and finished T-23. His best opening round at the Open didn't yield a title, either. He shot 65 at Royal Birkdale to begin in 1998 before finishing third to friend Mark O'Meara.
