Seven-time major champion Arnold Palmer underwent a procedure Monday to install a pacemaker implant to correct an abnormal heartbeat.
“Arnold Palmer had successful pacemaker implant surgery today at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh to correct an abnormal heartbeat," said a post on Palmer’s website. "He will remain in the hospital for observation overnight and is expected to be released Tuesday.”
The 84-year-old was to take part in an Aug. 2 exhibition at the Champions Tour's 3M Championship, but withdrew because of a back injury.
