2019 The RSM Classic money: Purse, winner’s share, prize money payout

The 2019 The RSM Classic purse is set for $6.6 million, with 75 professional players who complete four rounds at Sea Island Golf Resort on St. Simons Island, Ga., earning a paycheck this week.

The winner's share of the The RSM Classic prize pool is at $1,188,000, with the second-place finisher taking home $719,400.

The RSM Classic field is headed by Webb Simpson, Scottie Scheffler, Brendon Todd and Matt Kuchar.

This tournament started with 156 players, with a cut down to the top 65 and ties in this, the last official event of 2019 on the PGA Tour calendar.

The week began with the field split evenly on two courses at Sea Island -- the Seaside and Plantation Courses -- in the first two rounds. Each player got to play a round on each course before a cut was made.

In the final two rounds, the players making the 36-hole cut combine to play on a single course, on the Seaside Course.

With the new PGA Tour cut rule down to the top 65 and ties, no players are subject to the PGA Tour's secondary cut any longer.

When more than 65 professionals make the cut, the PGA Tour adds to the total purse to make sure every player making the 36-hole cut gets paid. The purse for the tournament is now not $6.6 million but $6.747 million. A single amateur, Davis Thompson, made the cut and will not be paid.

The fall events offer significant paydays and the benefits that come with winning on the PGA Tour. Winners of these events get a two-plus season exemption on the PGA Tour, as well berths into the Masters, the Sentry Tournament of Champions, The Players Championship and the PGA Championship.
