The 2019 DP World Tour Championship Dubai final leaderboard is headed by winner Jon Rahm, who won his fourth Rolex Series title and the season finale with a one-shot win at Jumeirah Golf Estates’ Earth Course in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Rahm made a sandy birdie 4 on the 72nd hole of the tournament, making the final putt on the par 5 to beat Tommy Fleetwood by a single shot with a total of 19-under 269.
Mike Lorenzo-Vera finished alone in third on 17-under total, seeking his biggest-career payday. He shot a final-round 70. Rory McIlroy shot 1-over 73 in the final round to slip into solo fourth place.
Rahm won the $3,000,000 winner’s share of the $8,000,000 purse.
DP World Tour Championship Dubai recap notes
This was the final event of the European Tour season, capping off the season-long Race to Dubai points race. Rahm picked up 2,000 points for the win, which was enough to top the Race to Dubai for the first time and win the $2 million first-place prize.
The top five players in the standings were paid from the Race to Dubai bonus pool. Bernd Wiesberger started the week at No. 1, finishing third after he was passed by Rahm and Nedbank Golf Challenge winner Tommy Fleetwood.
Rahm has won his fourth Rolex Series event, taking this tournament twice and the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open twice as well.
Robert MacIntyre from Scotland won the European Tour’s Rookie of the Year award, cementing his status as an up-and-coming player with a great season.
The 2019-2020 European Tour season begins next week in South Africa with the Alfred Dunhill Championship, which is co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour. The planned Hong Kong Open was postponed due to violent reaction by the Chinese government to student-led protests over the island’s autonomy.
