The Korn Ferry Tour has long dangled the carrot of instant promotion to the PGA Tour if a player can win three times on that circuit in a single season. The offer, colloquially called the Battlefield Promotion, has been cashed in a dozen of times over 22 years, and it's perhaps the biggest achievement possible for a player competing on that tour.

Now, the PGA Tour is expanding the three-win promotion to its developmental tours under its umbrella. Players on Mackenzie Tour - PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour Latinoamerica and the PGA Tour Series China will be eligible for instant promotion to the Korn Ferry Tour with their third win in a single season on a specific tour.

Players will not be able to mix and match wins between tours. Some players do jump between tours, but all of the wins for a three-win promotion would have to come on a single tour.

Since the formation of PGA Tour Latinoamerica in 2012, the purchase of the Canadian Tour in 2012 and the formation of PGA Tour Series China, eight players have won at least three times in a season on one of those three tours.

“This is one more incentive for the players who play high-level golf on our three Tours in Latin America, Canada and China. Players have shown that they are ready to compete and contend once they get to the Korn Ferry Tour. Giving them an immediate track to that Tour is an exciting addition we’re pleased to announce,” said Rob Ohno, PGA Tour Senior Vice President of International Tours.

On all three tours, the top five finishers on the season-long points list -- starting in 2020 -- will earn Korn Ferry Tour status for the next season.
