Is Tiger Woods the greatest golfer of all time?

The Jack Nicklaus vs. Tiger Woods debate has been going on for what feels like decades. Both players have their own supporters – old-school golf fans prefer Jack Nicklaus, while others consider Tiger the greatest of all time. Although Jack leads Tiger in and major championships, Woods, with more officially recognized PGA Tour wins, is widely considered the best golfer of all-time. Just like Michael Jordan in basketball and Roger Federer in tennis, Woods is renowned for his style of play and considered the best even if there are others who deserve the title.

During the first decade of the 21st century, Woods was unbeatable. He won a total of 14 golf majors between 1997 and 2008 and was rightfully ranked atop the PGA rankings. And then came the dark era in Woods’ career. Marred by injuries and personal problems, Tiger Woods fell down the rankings amid all the drama. It would take him 3-4 years to get back to the top of the PGA Tour rankings, yet back surgeries in 2014, 2015 and 2017 limited his playing time. After missing a lot of time on the tour, Woods fell outside the first 1,000 ranked golfers and there was talk about him being done.

Almost as soon as he returned to the Tour in 2018, however, Woods started making significant progress. Bit by bit, he went further up the list and earned the status of a contender. In the last year, Woods has been playing in top form after nearly a decade, which was crowned with a win at the Tour Championship and his first major in eleven years, the Masters in 2019.

It was Tiger’s 15th overall major, but more importantly, he’s back to his best where he belongs. With all the personal demons and injuries behind, Tiger Woods intends to break Nicklaus’ record of 18 majors and forever end the debate of who the best golfer is. After fighting through so many problems in the past decade, he completely deserves it.

We’re not going to diminish Jack Nicklaus’ invaluable records. Just like Tiger, the Golden Bear is a legend that will never be forgotten. However, if you take into consideration the fact that Woods could barely walk over a year ago and was under a lot of scrutiny in the past 10 years, he rose like a Phoenix from the ashes and found a way back to winning majors. Due to this, he deserves to be called the best ever.

One of the greatest American sports icons of all time, Woods is still a heavy favorite at any tournament he enters at the age of 43. Don’t believe us? Check the odds for the Open or any upcoming tournament – his name will be right at the top or near to it.

Of course, with all the competition he’s facing right now, it will be tough. Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and other golfers have emerged in Tiger’s lengthy absence, dominating the world of golf for years. With Tiger back in the fold, however, the PGA Tour is bigger and better than ever.

Regardless of what many people think, golf betting is as exciting as all the other major sports. Thanks to special bets such as Race Winning Margin or Play Off, you can bet on a wide number of golf markets and possibly even win a nice sum since it’s not as popular as football so the odds are enticing. Even better, you can find a list of the best free bets online and use them to correctly predict the winner of a tournament.

Betting on Tiger Woods is a great idea right now as he’s always near the top with great odds. The man’s a real legend and no matter the odds bookies give Tiger Woods, he should be considered a favorite.
