With the conclusion of the 2018 Made in Denmark, eight of the 12 players on the 2018 European Ryder Cup team are now decided. The European Tour's only event in Denmark was the cutoff to get in the top eight in the European Ryder Cup points standings or world points standings and secure a spot on captain Thomas Bjorn's team.
Heading into the final event, seven of the eight qualifiers were known. Francesco Molinari, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Justin Rose, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Alex Noren were locks, with Thorbjorn Olesen earning a berth when Matt Fitzpatrick was unable to win the tournament in Denmark.
At this point, Thomas Bjorn now has two-thirds of his team, and he has four captain's picks to make. The captain's picks will be announced Sept. 5 in a made-for-TV ceremony. It's likely Bjorn will select Ian Poulter, with Paul Casey and Rafa Cabrera-Bello likely to get a look. Sergio Garcia could miss the team, while Matt Wallace and Eddie Pepperell are in contention, too.
