Steph Curry is getting a second crack at the Web.com Tour.
Coming off yet another NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors superteam, the two-time NBA MVP and three-time NBA champion is returning to the Web.com Tour's Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae, played the week of the PGA Championship (Aug. 9-12).
Last year, Curry shot a more-than-respectable pair of 74s to miss the cut in the Web.com Tour's Bay Area event. Like last year, in 2018 he'll play as an amateur and will get into the event on a sponsor's exemption.
“The players on the Web.com Tour welcomed me with open arms in 2017, and it was an amazing experience to play with up-and-coming PGA TOUR stars inside the ropes at TPC Stonebrae,” said Curry. “I have been fortunate to be a member of an incredible team in the Golden State Warriors, and I was elated to feel that same level of camaraderie onsite last year. Golf is a game that has provided wonderful experiences in my life, and I am excited to return to the Ellie Mae Classic in August.”
A year ago, Curry attracted a tremendous amount of attention for the tournament, which was ultimately won by Martin Piller. The year prior, Stephen Jaeger set the Web.com Tour single-round and 72-hole scoring records by shooting the first 58 in Web.com Tour history and taking the title on a record 30-under 250 total.
