Matt Kuchar is slapping Bubba Watson in the face a whole lot so far at the 2018 Zurich Classic near New Orleans. Every time the two-man team makes a birdie in the PGA Tour's only team event, Kuchar goes up to Watson and gives him a loving, gentle slap in the face. The opposite happens with Watson makes a birdie. Slap to the face.

Look, Kuchar has been behind some of the more bizarre and entertaining team celebrations in recent memory, including with Tiger Woods. However, Kuchar slapping Watson in the face? Seems particularly odd.

Kuchar has an explanation.

“Everybody has got something,” Kuchar said Friday after the team jumped into contention following the Friday alternate-shot round. “Some sort of handshake, some sort of fist bump, some sort of tap on the hiney. I figured this was a good opportunity for me to slap Bubba in the face. Everybody wants to do that, and I talked him into it.”

So, what's the celebration if the team makes an eagle? Watson better brace for it.

“If we ever make an eagle it’s a double slap," he said, "but we haven’t made an eagle yet.”
