We began with the 2017 Safeway Open, continue to the 2018 Valero Texas Open this week and will work through the Tour Championship in Atlanta in September 2018, keeping track of our picks all along the way.
First, before we begin, if you're not familiar with game, read this primer on the one-and-done fantasy golf format, and welcome to the game. It really is as easy as it sounds, but you have to take a long-term view of the season to figure out how best to use players.
Let's be blunt: This week is not a good field. It's bad. Sergio Garcia is the lead player, and then it's the Charley Hoffman show, pretty much. That means you're desperate for nuggets, but you have a limited set of plays for one-and-done where you'll feel rather comfortable. This is a chalk week.
2018 Valero Texas Open One and Done picks
- Charley Hoffman: Hoffman LOVES TPC San Antonio. Might be the only guy in the field who dominates this place.
- Sergio Garcia: If, for some reason, you don't want Sergio in a bigger spot, hard to argue with him here.
- Chesson Hadley: Hadley is a superior ballstriker, and he's playing some really hot golf of late.
My pick this week will be Charley Hoffman. This is the proper chalk play, and I'm going there.
