The viewing figures for the 2017 Masters may have been the lowest for 13 years, but it's still the most watched of the majors, and for those who love golf, it's thrilling entertainment. Golf fans were not disappointed by the result, as Sergio Garcia triumphed in a playoff against Justin Rose. But, it was perhaps because these two players are not such big names outside of the golfing world that viewing figures were not that impressive.

So, what will happen at this year’s event? It's just one of the questions that golf fans will be asking. Especially if they are looking for some good odds to wager on. Let's take a look at what questions you should be asking about the 2018 golf season. You can hopefully use some of this information if you want to place a wager. Once you have the answers you need, take a look at which states offer legal sports betting , to see where you can spend your money.

1. What will Tiger Woods’ return look like?

There was a time when Tiger Woods was king of the greens. But, that time has long since passed. Woods is looking healthy right now, though. Although it has to be said that he has not played in a season where he made more than 15 starts since back in 2013, and he turns 42 in December. It may be difficult to answer this question until the season is well underway, and it's easier to judge Woods' level of fitness.

2. Will anyone achieve the career grand slam?

Achieving a career grand slam is not something that happens very often. The only players to have done so since the modern era began are Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Gene Sarazen. But, it's just possible that this will be the year that a player is added to the list. Rory McIlroy needs a win at the Masters, Phil Mickelson needs to triumph at the US Open, and Jordan Spieth is looking for a PGA Championship win.

3. Who will be No. 1 when the season ends?

It was Dustin Johnson who had the honor of being at the number one spot at the end of the 2017 season. Will he be there again this year? It seems likely that several golfers will hold the spot at some point during the season, given that there is so much talent around at the moment. Hot names to look out for, if you are thinking of placing a wager include Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose.

4. Will there be any surprises at the majors?

Let's face it, last year’s Masters result was a shock, if you take into account the fact that Garcia had never won a major, even though the Spaniard has been playing some pretty impressive golf for nearly 20 years. Two golfers who could be set to shock fans with a first major win in 2018 are Rickie Fowler, who looks to be returning to good form and Jon Rahm who is the impressive new kid on the block.

5. What will happen in the Ryder Cup?

Europe will be looking to get revenge for the Ryder Cup defeat in 2016, especially as the event is being held in Paris. But, the potential US squad that is being suggested looks impressive and Tiger Woods has been hinting at a spot as vice-captain. It's set to be an epic battle.

Most of the questions to be asked about golf in the 2018 season probably will not be full answered until many matches have been played.
