Lexi Thompson has signed a multi-year deal with Bridgestone Golf to play their golf balls, the company announced Jan. 18.

Thompson, the 22-year-old top-ranked American on the LPGA Tour, had already been playing the company's Tour B330-S ball in the prior two LPGA seasons, but she wasn't doing so under contract. Now, she'll play the company's new Tour B X ball. That ball, part of the new Tour B lineup for 2018, is designed for better players, emphasizing feel and accuracy, particularly off the tee with lower driver spin. The Tour B X has an 85-compression rating and is the firmest of the four balls in the line.

“I’ve used Bridgestone for years and the new Tour B product is shockingly good,” said Thompson. “It gives me tremendous distance off the tee without sacrificing any performance around the green. What’s more, I feel confident hitting any type of shot the situation calls for.”

Thompson had the lowest scoring average on the LPGA in 2017, winning two events and nearly taking a second-career major championship at the ANA Inspiration. Her performance led the American contingent over the course of a year dominated by Korean-born players, and she was a key member of the victorious U.S. Solheim Cup team.
