Justin Thomas' dad, Mike, is on the bag for his son as caddie during the 2018 Sentry Tournament of Champions. That's because Justin's normal caddie, Jimmy Johnson, has come down with plantar fasciitis and is going to be out of action for the month of January.

Todd Lewis of Golf Channel was among those reporting from Kapalua Resort on Mike Thomas stepping in as caddie.

Asked after the round on Saturday about lugging the bag for his son, the PGA of America professional said he was tired afterward but enjoyed helping out his son.

Mike Thomas will be back on the bag on Sunday as Justin finishes out early, well behind of 54-hole leader Dustin Johnson and near the bottom of the leaderboard.

Lewis reports Thomas will be looking for a professional caddie to use next week at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu as he defends at the Sony Open in Hawaii, where he shot 59 last year en route to winning.
